Otthon Centrum Advocates Housing Stimulus In Hungary
“The government should provide incentives to home buyers to bolster the property market when the moratorium on evictions ends on July 1, the head of a leading real estate agency has argued.
CEO Tibor Nagygyörgy of property agency Otthon Centrum said a government stimulus on the demand side is essential for the market to absorb the supply should a large number of homes hit the market at the same time.
“Subsidies or discounts that would be available only for a limited time or up to a certain amount would encourage potential buyers to act” and not to fear further price drops, Nagygyörgy added. “Such a solution would remove the threat that forecasts of continually falling prices become a self-fulfilling prophecy,” he underlined.”
