Evicted Man Jumps Out Of Flat In Budapest
“A man suffered critical injuries Thursday after setting himself alight and jumping out of the window of his eighth-floor flat in the Fourth District as he was about to be evicted. Three policemen who helped extinguish the fire were hospitalised with smoke poisoning. At least one hand grenade was found in the burnt-out residence.
The tenant has not paid any rent since 1997, nor has he contributed to the common expenses of the building.
He owes Ft 2.9 million in unpaid rent and Ft 600,000 in heating bills.”
