Event Report: Construction Industry Fair At Hungexpo In Budapest
“This year’s Construma – the 30th – focused on themes relating to a liveable environment, cost effectiveness and energy efficiency. The exhibition – and its accompanying events and more than 60 conferences – in the Hungexpo Budapest Fair Centre were dominated by the ‘green trend’.
During the 6 days – which was a special opening period because of the 30th CONSTRUMA – the exhibitions attracted some 60,000 visitors to the HUNGEXPO Budapest Fair Centre. 60% of them was trade visitors, which means 10% higher rate, than it was last year.
In the construction industry fair this April the CONSTRUMA, the HUNGAROTHERM and the FURNISHING + DESIGN exhibitions were accompanied this year, for the first time ever, by an environmental and communal exhibition called ÖKOTECH. Accordingly, the largest fair of the construction sector in Hungary was really furnished with a veritable green background.
Professional debates in the conferences were, of course, centred on environmentally friendly solutions. The supply in the market still shows that investments in such technologies take a longer period of time to pay off: e.g. the costs of a solar panel based heating system are a lot higher than those of conventional solutions. Nonetheless, buyers’ demand has started to shift in this direction, if only because in view of the growing energy prices the period of recovery of such investments may decrease considerably.
A total of 612 exhibitors from 19 countries brought their products and solutions to be displayed at HUNGEXPO this time. The outstanding visitor numbers on this occasion were attracted by the three trade days, thanks to the exhibitors’ high quality products as well as the extremely rich and valuable technical programmes.
Exhibitors of CONSTRUMA and HUNGAROTHERM has brought the newest technologies, solutions and products to ensure that there is still big potential in building industry and the building engineering.
FURNISHING+DESIGN was a new participant this year, putting on a show of interior spaces, design and of solutions for turning a house into a home. The new exhibition was found to have been well-placed, its stands drew large numbers of interested visitors.
The GREEN CITY movement also introduced itself at the ÖKOTECH exhibition and the programmes included urbanism-related events such as the URB:ICON conference. The presentations delivered on the ‘Local Governments Day’ focused on the cost efficient operation and maintenance of local governmental real estates, environmentally sound solutions, urban development and urbanisation in general. The seminars were attended primarily by decision makers in charge of investment and real estate development projects.
The construction sector’s exhibitions will await the representatives of the profession and those interested in the industry’s progress next time in the spring.” 19.04.2011
