“Nine months after a flood of toxic red sludge devastated Hungarian villages, the country has built more than 100 new homes for the displaced. But for survivors such as Istvan Fuchs, who lost his mother in the disaster, the emotional recovery has just begun.” 18.07.2011
For an estate to close, the executor must pay off the deceased’s debts, and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) must release the estate from any further liability for taxes. If the deceased had any outstanding credit card balances or auto loans, or if he owed any other sort of creditor, this is their last chance to get paid. The most complicated and time-consuming part of the probate process is ensuring that all this gets accomplished, and the court won’t allow closure until then.
Any taxes that the deceased or her estate owes are priority claims against her assets during probate.
William Raveis agent, Denise Gannalo, from our New Canaan office, talks about the great room as an increasing trend in modern home living. In addition, she discusses it as a great leveraging tool for today’s home-sellers!
“Some 20,800 new homes were built last year, a 35% decline from 2009, according to the Central Statistics Office. This was the lowest number since the end of the 1990s.Read full post…
With Memorial Day weekend upon us, some of you may not be as attentive to Social Juice and blog.raveis.com as you normally are! So, I thought I would just make a few quick, but important announcements. So before you go whooshing out, top-down from the office parking lot, take a quick read of the updates to our blog and facebook page below:
1) If you haven’t noticed already, there is a new feature on our blog on the right sidebar-look to your right as you’re reading-that allows you to utilize our ‘Find a Home’ feature. Now, you can access 300,000 listings in 7 states while reading Social Juice or posts from any other of our talented contributors. Makes life a little easier, yes?
2) We have added a Search bar to our blog as you can see on the very top right hand-corner. Search the blog for anything your heart desires…from interest rates to Lady Gaga’s stylist (ok that one may be a stretch) and boom, you’ll find articles relevant to your interest.
3) Go to facebook.com/WilliamRaveis. On the left-hand side underneath the tabs from “Wall….Notes” you will see a “Find a Home” section. We have now added access to our popular Find a Home feature on raveis.com. So now, you can begin your home search on the William Raveis facebook page, as well. In addition, you can access our Exceptional Properties and Mortgage Divisions, utilize Local Housing Data, access our Mobile Site, our social media pages and, of course, blog.raveis.com.
Since these are fresh changes, we welcome (and rely on!) feedback from you on how they are working. We hope you enjoy them!
Closing cost calculators are great for helping you determine how much money you need to have available for your new home loan. What they cannot do is decipher the confusing disclosures you get as part of your mortgage application. In January new disclosures were mandated for the Good Faith Estimate, on top of the Truth-In-Lending Disclosure and other required disclosures. With all of the paperwork, how do you know what is what and who gets what?
Good Faith Estimate 2010
Referred to by many in the industry as the “Goofy 2010″, the Good Faith Estimate, or GFE, is required on all mortgages effective January 1, 2010. Whe
